Diets That Work

There are diets that work only if done correctly. These diet programs will not only help you lose weight but will also help you gain self-confidence.

Why do people diet?

People go on a diet in order to maintain a goal of either gaining or losing weight. In many instances dieting is practiced to maintain an ideal body weight. Many obese individuals are advised to go on a diet in order to lose weight and lessen the risks of getting serious health condition like heart diseases. Athletes on the other hand go on a diet in order to gain weight and add muscles. Diets are usually combined with physical activity or exercise. Without exercise, a diet program will not bring complete results.

However, there are diets that work even without exercise or engaging in physical activity and still bring about the good results as expected. These diets are carefully planned and include specially groups of food that sustain the body with its nutritional needs. Most of these foods are categorized as low-fat, low calorie, low carbohydrate and very low calorie. These food categories are mostly present in a diet program that promotes weight loss.

What are some of the popular diets for weight loss?

It is considered that the first diet to become popular is the Banting diet. It was introduced and used by William Banting to achieve his successful weight loss. This diet is of low -carbohydrate and of low calorie. Atkins, another popular diet is a low carbohydrate and high in protein program. It restricts the intake of carbohydrate. Protein power diet works the same with Atkins and also restricts carbohydrate and instead provides high protein intake.

DASH and Weight Watchers diets are low calorie diets which limit the body with 500 to 1000 calories consumption a day thus results in losing a substantial 0.5 kilogram in a week. There are still debates on the effectiveness of these low calorie diets as authorities on body nutrition claim that these particular diets lower the body mass in short period of time that may lead to some serious health conditions.

A popular 2-4-6-8 very low calorie diet works by maintaining protein intake but restricting the calorie from 200 to 800 per day. This diet follows a rigid cycle of consuming 200 calories on the first day. This is followed by consuming 400 calorie on the second day then 600 on the third day and then 800 calorie on the fourth day. The cycle is repeated for a prescribed period.

These diets that work have been successful in promoting weight loss. But in order to gain the full benefits, it is still best to consult your doctor before attempting to try one.
